SIZE & PLACEMENT

Find the right scale.

A guide to choosing the right artwork format, orientation and size for your space.

ARTWORK FORMAT

Fine art print or canvas.

The right format depends on the artwork, the room and the way you want the piece to sit within the space.

01

FINE ART PRINTS

Fine art prints offer a clean, paper-based presentation and can be placed in a frame of your choice. They work especially well when you want a lighter visual presence or more flexibility in framing.

Fine art print sizes vary between the US range and our international range.

02

CANVAS

Canvas creates a more substantial presence on the wall. Its larger scale options are designed for spaces where the artwork should feel integrated into the architecture of the room.

Canvas is available unframed or with selected floating frame options where offered.

AVAILABLE SIZES

Choose your scale.

Available dimensions depend on the artwork, format and destination. The options shown on each product page are the sizes currently available for that specific artwork.

ORIENTATION

Vertical or horizontal.

VERTICAL

Vertical artwork naturally draws the eye upward. It works particularly well on narrower walls, between architectural features, beside furniture or in rooms where you want to emphasize height.

HORIZONTAL

Horizontal artwork follows the width of the furniture or wall beneath it. It is especially suited to sofas, beds, sideboards and other wide architectural compositions.

Dimensions are shown width × height for vertical artwork. For a horizontal artwork, the same dimensions are viewed in the opposite orientation.

PLACEMENT

Think beyond the artwork itself.

Scale is determined by the relationship between the artwork, the wall and the furniture around it.

01

SMALLER WALLS

Smaller prints work well above a side table, within a reading corner, on narrow walls or as part of a more intimate composition.

02

MEDIUM SPACES

Medium sizes bring more presence without dominating the room. They are well suited to bedrooms, dining spaces and placement above smaller furniture.

03

STATEMENT WALLS

Large canvas sizes are designed for open walls, living rooms and spaces where the artwork should become one of the defining elements of the room.

A SIMPLE RULE

When artwork sits above furniture, aim for approximately two-thirds to three-quarters of the width of the furniture below it.

Artwork is frequently chosen too small for the wall around it. If two sizes both work, choosing the larger size will often create a more intentional sense of scale.

ARTWORK ≈ ⅔–¾ OF FURNITURE WIDTH

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Measure the space.

Measure both the available wall area and any furniture below the artwork. This gives a better impression of scale than considering the artwork dimensions alone.

You can also use painter's tape to mark the outer dimensions of the artwork directly on the wall before ordering.

SIZE & PLACEMENT

There is no single right size.

These guidelines are intended as a starting point. Architecture, furniture and personal preference all influence how a piece feels within a room.
